Why Mustard

While researching how mustard was made, and there are a LOT of ways to make a variety of mustards, I knew I wanted mine to be different, hearty and not just a hot dog topping. I wanted it to stand alone but be healthy. So, I added chickpeas.

Mustard on carrots had been my go-to when I was training for my first bikini division competition in 2011. It allowed me a tasty treat without guilt or excessive calories. When friends noticed I was in love with eating mustard they suggested making my own. Having a degree or certification in most things in life, culinary arts not being one of them, the thought had never crossed my mind…then it did! I knew though, that it had to be a more substantial snack, that would be healthy and easy to eat for the vast majority of folks.

While researching how mustard was made, and there are a LOT of ways to make a variety of mustards, I knew I wanted mine to be different, hearty and not just a hot dog topping. I wanted it to stand alone but be healthy. So, I added chickpeas. A terrific protein source that would not only bulk up the flavor and mouth feel, but would also make the mustard itself self-sustaining. Kiki’s Flustered Mustard is Protein-packed with chickpeas and 7 natural ingredients including: mustard powder, mustard seed, fresh garlic, fresh horseradish root, salt, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. It is the perfect post-workout, family friendly, kid approved, great midday and even excellent with a craft beer or vino snack! The best part is, Kiki’s Flustered Mustard is making people happy, giving them a great snack to take with them that is healthy, and fits into every lifestyle.

I continue to make Kiki’s Flustered Mustard so more and more people can experience the mouth happy, feel good flavor on their favorite foods! A new flavor will be launched soon!

The nickname Kiki came from my friend Shanna’s son Nolan, who at 18 months of age, while trying to get my attention found Kristen to be a mouthful, and shouted “Kiki, you sit here”. That was 7 years ago and the name has stuck!
